Make a batch of these cute banana ghosts for a quick after-school snack or to add to a fun Halloween snack board. They need just 2-3 ingredients to make and are a great way to make the spooky day a bit more festive.

I love finding ways to play and craft with food. I do enjoy a sugary treat like this white chocolate Halloween snack mix or these spider web Halloween sugar cookies. But it’s always good to balance things out and infuse something nutritious into snacks! That’s why I love these simple and easy banana ghosts. They are a healthy addition to an otherwise sugary sweet holiday!

    Only 2-3 ingredients needed

    • Fresh bananas, peeled
    • Mini chocolate chips, or melted dark chocolate
    • Optional edible candy eyes

Quick directions to make banana ghosts

You hae a couple of options when making these banana ghosts.

First, you can slice them in half and leave an even straight line for their bottoms. Or you could cut out 2 triangles to make it look like they’re wearing a little tattered sheet. I did both 🙂

Peel and cut bananas in half. To make a jagged edge, cut out 2 triangles.

Next, you have a couple of options when it comes to affixing eyes and a mouth. You can either attach mini chocolate chips to make a face. Simply turn chip upside down and push into banana so it holds.

Or you can melt some dark chocolate or candy melts and draw on eyes and a mouth with a toothpick.

Lastly, if you have those cute edible candy eyes, you can affix some melted chocolate to the bananas, then add the eyes and mouth and let dry.

And that is all there is to making these banana ghosts! So quick and easy!

Tips and tricks for making these banana ghosts

Keep in mind the bananas will brown a bit as they sit out, although it does take several hours. So try to make these as close to your event as possible so they stay nice and fresh.

And the jagged bottoms are a bit delicate, so arrange and transport carefully! The little feet will break off if you’re not careful.

    Involve the kids!

This is a great snack to get the kids involved with making too because it is so simple. This is a great snack to make with toddlers and let them draw on any face they want. Add some sprinkles or use different colored candy melts to make them wild and fun. Just have fun with it!
