SAZERAC

COCKTAIL

The Sazerac cocktail is a classic drink hailing from New Orleans. This version is inspired by Vermont, and uses maple syrup instead of a sugar cube.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR SAZERAC

Start by pouring a splash of absinthe in an old fashioned glass, about 1/4 ounce, and rinse all along the inner edges. Discard any excess.

WHAT IS

ABSINTHE?

Absinthe is a strong spirit made by distilling a neutral alcohol with botanicals like anise or fennel. It's alcohol content varies between 45%-75%, so drink with caution! It's why it's used as just a rinse here.

In a cocktail mixing glass,  add your ice cubes, bourbon  or whiskey and maple syrup.

STIR WELL

Strain whiskey mix into the absinthe rinsed glass, and if desired, add ice cubes or drink it neat.

Garnish with an orange twist or Luxardo cherry, and serve on the rocks or neat.

ENJOY!
