In a small bowl or measuring cup, add the honey, soy sauce, water, red pepper flakes and cornstarch and mix well. Set aside
⅓ cup Honey, ⅓ cup Water, 3 tablespoon Soy Sauce, 1 tablespoon Cornstarch , 1 teaspoon Red pepper flakes
Over medium high heat, warm a large skillet and add 1 teaspoon of neutral oil. Do not add more oil than needed, as it will prevent the meat from getting a good crust and will produce excess oil.
1 teaspoon Neutral oil, 1.5 lbs Ground Beef
Let the beef brown before stirring. Give it a minute or two in the pan so it develops some caramelization before stirring.
Using a wooden spoon or ground meat silicone chopper works well here. Cook beef for 7-9 minutes till almost cooked through, and stir in ginger and garlic, cooking beef for another 3-4 minutes till meat is cooked through.
1 teaspoon Ginger, 5 Garlic cloves
Once ground beef is cooked through, pour in the honey sauce stirring well to evenly coat the beef with the sauce. Allow to simmer on low for 2-3 minutes so sauce thickens slightly and warmed through.
Serve immediately over steamed rice and garnish with green onions, sesame seeds and crispy garlic.
