These healthy hamburger bowls are a perfect way to hit the spot when craving a burger! With elevated ingredients including air fried sweet potato fries, pickled red onions, and a spicy arugula base, they’re a great option for a high protein, lower carb meal.
Flatt patty mixture into a flat disc and score meat, dividing it up into 6 equal parts. Take each part and form a burger patty about 1.5" thick, and place on a parchment lined sheet pan.
With the back of a spoon, indent a small circle into the center of the burger patty to avoid the burgers puffing up during cooking.
Cook in a cast iron skillet on medium-high heat or a grill until desired doneness is reached. For medium rare, cook for about 5 minutes per side.
To make the sweet potato wedges
In a bowl, combine the sweet potatoes with the olive oil and herbs and spices. Toss well then place in a 375 degree preheated air fryer or oven for about 12-14 minutes. See detailed instructions in my air fryer sweet potato wedge recipe.
2 small sweet potatoes, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon black pepper, ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
To make the special burger sauce
Combine the Greek yogurt, lime juice and hot sauce in a small jar and stir/shake till well combined. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
¼ cup Greek yogurt, 2 teaspoon lime juice, 1 teaspoon hot sauce
Assemble the hamburger bowls
In a bowl, layer the salad greens then the sweet potato wedges and place a burger patty on top. Add desired garnishes and drizzle with special sauce. Add desired toppings and enjoy!
