Brown the butter till golden brown, toasty and fragrant, then add the marshmallows and stir to melt.
Add pumpkin spice extract in lieu of vanilla extract, to give these brown butter rice krispie treats that warm pumpkin flavor! Adjust how much you add by how flavorful you want them.

Gently fold in rice krispie cereal till well coated. Place in a square 8"x8" brownie pan for thicker treats, or a rectangle casserole dish for smaller treats.
Allow to cool and then cut into bars. Drizzle with melted chocolate, sea salt or sprinkle with seasonal shapes and colors for a more festive touch. These are just as easy to make as the original rice krispie treats, but packed with nutty warm spices and perfect for the holidays!
